Police responded to the area of Oak Place on a report of gunshots coming from the direction of Route 27 shortly after 1 a.m. on May 16, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said in a joint release.

The man was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and has since been released, authorities said. The vehicle sustained damage as a result.
